The Last of Us Part 2 will be out on June 19, 2020, exclusively for the PS4. The words “f**k” and “sh*t,” appear in the dialogue. One sequence depicts two characters smoking a marijuana joint in a room full of marijuana plants. Some zombie creatures are depicted with exposed breasts and genitalia. The game contains some sexual content: a couple disrobing and briefly engaging in a sexual act the couple is heard grunting/moaning as the screen turns black (depicted from the waist up with female toplessness).
Cutscenes depict further instances of violence: a human captive bound and hung from a noose before being disemboweled assailants beating a restrained woman’s arm with a hammer characters shot in the head with arrows a man repeatedly pistol-whipped. Players can also use explosives to set enemies on fire or blow enemies apart into limbs/bloody chunks of flesh. Some sequences enable players to use stealth attacks against enemies-approaching from behind, slitting their throats. From a third-person perspective, players traverse through small towns, wilderness, and ruin environments, using a variety of weapons (e.g., rifles, pistols, explosives, blades) to kill infected mutants and human survivors in frenetic combat.
This is an action game in which players follow the story of Ellie and Joel on their continued struggle for survival in post-pandemic Wyoming. Naughty Dog has stated that this is their biggest game to date which is part of the reason it has taken so long to release. We also got a glimpse of another unnamed playable character separate from Ellie in 2017. All we really know about the game at the moment is that it’s set five years after the first game and follows a much more hardened, vengeful Ellie on a quest for revenge. Naughty Dog has been playing incredibly coy with The Last of Us Part 2 for YEARS so we likely won’t know until we play the game ourselves. If anyone was going to do a lesbian sex scene in a major AAA game, it would definitely be Naughty Dog. The ESRB’s official description for sexual content is as follows: “Non-explicit depictions of sexual behavior, possibly including partial nudity.” Ellie does seem to have a girlfriend in the sequel and based on some stuff we’ve seen they do get some alone time. Now, nudity doesn’t always entail anything particularly sexual but it does seem that there will be a sex scene or something romantic/intimate within The Last of Us Part 2 thanks to the sexual content warning. On top of the typical blood and gore, intense, violence, and strong language, The Last of Us Part 2 has been rated for nudity and sexual content. Remember just a few months ago when PlayStation told us The Last of Us Part 2 was coming out at the end of February 2020?
